Signs a drain may need jetting
Jetting is used when a drain is restricted by material along its length rather than a single blockage. Signs include drains that keep blocking every few weeks or months, outside gullies that fill with grease, slow flow from several fittings and smells that come back soon after a drain has been rodded.

How drain jetting works
A jetting hose is fed into the drain from a manhole or access point. Water is pushed through a nozzle at high pressure, with jets that scour the pipe walls and help pull the hose along. The loosened grease, silt and debris are washed down to the next chamber and on towards the sewer.
Jetting is not suitable for every pipe. Cracked, displaced or very old pipes, and some pitch-fibre drains, can be damaged by high-pressure water, so we may want to inspect the drain with a CCTV camera before or after jetting. If the pipe itself needs repair, jetting alone is unlikely to solve the problem.
What happens on the visit
We locate the chambers, check which way the drain runs and decide where to jet from. The jetting equipment needs space near the access point, so it helps to move cars or bins away from manhole covers. We may ask you to keep children and pets away from the open chamber while we work.

Can drain jetting damage my pipes?
In a sound drain, jetting is a standard cleaning method. In a drain that is already cracked, displaced or made of weaker material such as pitch fibre, high-pressure water can make things worse. That is why the condition of the pipe matters, and why a camera inspection is sometimes advised first.
How often should a drain be jetted?
There is no fixed interval. A household drain may never need it if a blockage was a one-off. Drains serving commercial kitchens, busy rental properties or sites with tree roots nearby may benefit from regular cleaning. Will jetting remove tree roots?
