Drainage services in Maidstone
Maidstone is Kent's county town, set on the River Medway, and we cover it from our base in Orpington, including Bearsted, Allington, Barming, Loose and Penenden Heath.

Drainage in and around Maidstone
As a long-established market and county town, Maidstone has a wide spread of housing. Near the town centre and the Medway there are Victorian and Edwardian terraces and older buildings, some converted into flats. Outer areas such as Allington, Barming and Bearsted include a mix of established family housing and newer estates.
Close to the centre, terraces often share a drain run behind the houses, so a problem may appear several doors away from where it started. Converted buildings can have long internal soil and waste pipes serving several flats. On the outskirts, gardens with mature trees and older clay pipes make root intrusion through open or cracked joints a possibility worth checking for.
Maidstone jobs we can help with
In flats and converted houses, a blocked soil vent pipe can cause gurgling, slow toilets or smells across more than one floor. Bathroom problems are often more local, and blocked showers usually come down to hair and soap build-up in the trap or waste pipe.
For main drains with heavy deposits, drain jetting may clear the bore where the pipe is in a fit state for it. If a survey shows cracks along a length of pipe, drain lining can sometimes be fitted from inside without digging. Where rats are appearing in the garden or house, a rodent drainage survey can check whether a damaged pipe is giving them a route in.
A Maidstone visit, step by step
Maidstone is a longer drive from our Orpington base, so we try to gather as much detail as we can before setting off: what you have seen, photos of the chambers if you can take them, and access arrangements for flats or shared yards.
On site, we look at the affected fittings and lift the chambers to find where the water stops. We then clear the line by the method that suits it, check the result by running water through, and explain what we found in plain terms. If a survey or repair looks sensible, we say so and leave the choice with you.
Other places we cover
Alongside Maidstone, we cover Sevenoaks and Tonbridge in west Kent, and closer to London we work in Dartford, Bexleyheath, Bromley and Orpington.

Questions from Maidstone
Which parts of Maidstone do you cover?
We cover Maidstone and its surrounding districts, including Bearsted, Allington, Barming, Loose, Tovil and Penenden Heath. If you are not sure whether your address falls within our area, send us your postcode and we will tell you whether we can help.
Gurgling comes from upstairs when the toilet flushes. Is that a blockage?
It can be. Gurgling often means air is being pulled through traps because the soil vent pipe or the drain below is partly blocked. It can also point to a problem in the main drain outside. Checking the chamber and the stack usually narrows it down.
Is drain lining always possible instead of digging?
Not always. Lining suits pipes that are cracked or have open joints but are still in line and mostly intact. A collapsed section, a badly displaced joint or a sharp bend may need a different repair. A CCTV survey is normally needed first to show whether lining is a sensible option.
We keep seeing rats near the drain cover. Could the drain be the cause?
Rats can use damaged drains to move between the sewer and gardens or buildings. A broken pipe, a missing cover or an open old connection can give them a way through. A drainage survey can check for these defects so that any repair or proofing work is aimed at the right place.
